 The Borough Market in The Boqueria
On May 22, 23 and 24 the Londoner Borough Market will be the
guest of honour in The Boqueria. In the year 2006 both markets were related in an act
celebrated in London, in Southwark's district, where the Borough Market is located.
After certain exchanges the moment has come in which the English merchants present
their products in Barcelona. The fair will take place in Sant Galdric's Plaza
and during these three days the merchants' British producers will bring products as genuine
as pastry of meat, Cumberland suasages, cider, beer, teas, jams or oysters.
In a Parallel way on the Aula d'Cuina (Gastronomic Classroom) of the market a special class will be celebrated
with products of the Borough Market. The person responsible for showing the excellences of the
British products to the attendees will be Thomasina Miers, winner of the edition
of the year 2005 of the program MasterChef of the BBC and Executive Chef of the Restaurant
Wahaca to Covent Garden.
 JOAN ROSELL i ROCA
Joan(John) of Flors Maria (in the Ramblas) was born in the Barcelonin town of The Masnou in March of '32.
Since 14 years he devotes himself to this noble and nice trade and already since then
he was coming to the Ramblas in May to the contests that in those days were organized by the flower stands.
Joan had already fell in love with the Ramblas and since then (end of the 50's)
is here next to the Boqueria.
To Joan the flower trade comes from family being this the 3rd generation of florists.
When one asks his opinion about the Ramblas to Joan, he answers us that the Ramblas are are the best
place in the world at dawn since at that timespace the Ramblas are fresh and nice at this time,
he recommends to come to the Ramblas in the morning, to fill the basket in the Boqueria,
then to come to the flowers stands to take home the gastronomic delicatessen from
the Boqueria a small chunk of the sky that offer us natural flowers.
 ORIOL PUJOL IN THE BOQUERIA
The speaker of the political coalition Convergencia i Unio to Catalunya's Parliament,
Oriol Pujol, visited The Boqueria with intention of knowing in first person the worries
of the merchants of the market. To The luncheon Pujol also wanted to know also
the evolution of the project of remodeling of the Plaza of the Gardunya.
 "The Old English Market de Cork visits La Boqueria"
The most typical market of Ireland went the past month of March to The Boqueria to know it's experiences and to be interested in
EMPORION, the European Association of Markets. The Irish representatives headed by her chairwoman Mary Rose enjoyed the spectacle
of colors that The Boqueria shows and invited us to visit his(her,your) Market to Cork's city to the southeast of Ireland.

 The Counselor LLena visits The Boqueria
Last March 20 the Honorable. Mr Joaquim Llena, Counselor of Agriculture,
Nourishment and Rural Action, visited the Market of the Boqueria.
TO THE luncheon of later work, the Counselor has been informed on the part
of the President of the Market, Manel Ripoll, of the innovations for the one that refers
to the new stands and to the foreign relations of the market. Also doors have been
opened to collaboration with Markets of Barcelona for promoting the autochthonous product of quality.

 Emporion in Turin
In the frame of the 4th Torino Food Festival, Emporion's Meeting supported
a work meeting last April 25 in the Piedmontese city to define the European programs
in which to take part(report). During the acts celebrated the weekend fits to emphasize
the inauguration of the Pavellón of the meat of the Market it Carries Palazzo
on behalf of the Mayor Chiamparino and the emotive homenage to Rinaldo Bontempi.
The Catalan delegation was Salvador Capdevila formed(trained) by the President,
Vice-president and Manager of the Merchants' Association of the Boqueria, Manel Ripoll,
and Òscar Ubide, and the Manager and Chief of Communication of the IMMB, Jordi Torrades
and Jordi Tolrà respectively.
 Cabaret in The Boqueria
CARNIVAL PHOTOS
The Boqueria dressed up in costumes disguised as Cabaret to celebrate the Carnival. The actors of the show,
starred by protagonists Marta Ribera and Víctor Masan, performed in Plaça Sant Galdrich
the very famous "Willkomen" which is the one that begins the mythical musical. Immediately
afterwards they did a parade for the market delivering the prizes to the winners: Marisc Nineta
(best stand), Butcher's shop Amat (better feminine costume) and Mas Xarcuters-561
(best masculine costume).
 Llorenç Torrado, a Market man
This is the inscription that could be read in the plate that Markets of Barcelona, Mercabarna and Boqueria
gave to the relatives of Llorenç as conclusion of the honoring that these three institutions
gave him in Alimentaria. The President of Mercabarna and the IMMB, Jordi William Carnes,
headed an emotive act in which also spoke Salvador Capdevila, Vice-president of Boqueria,
Xavi Torrado and Eulàlia Fargas.
